… for your continuing support of the Central Kentucky Concert Band. Special Thank-You to those of you who have followed us through our 2011-2012 “Of Myths and Magic” Performance Season … Double-Double Toil and Trouble [December], Humpty-Dumpty Sat on a Wall [February], One Ring To Rule Them All [May]. It is a privilege and a pleasure for our CKCB music-making family to be a part of the vibrant Lexington arts community. We hope you may choose to attend one or all of our coming performances.

One Ring To Rule Them All

One Ring To Rule Them All
Featuring: The Central Kentucky Concert Band
Special Guest Artists: The SYMBIOSISDUO

The One Ring To Rule Them All concert [ORTRTA] will feature “Mystic Voyage” [Bernotas], “Entry of the Gods  into Valhalla” [Wagner], “Prisoner of the Ring” and “A Time To Dance” [Giroux] and “Hobbits” and “Gandalf” from Symphony No. 1 [de Meij].

Special Guest Artists for the ORTRTA concert will be the incomparable SYMBIOSISDUO – Gail Robertson, Euphonium and Stacy Baker, Tuba. They will perform “The Harmonious Blacksmiths” [Handel] and “Duet” from the Pearl Fishers [Bizet] in arrangements specially composed for the event by Gail Robertson.  Deb Eastwood, Cornet, will also be joining this musical extravaganza.

This concert is the third of the “Of Myths and Magic” 2011-2012 performance season. Peter LaRue serves as the Music Director and Conductor of the Central Kentucky Concert Band.

LexArts has provided generous funding support for the One Ring To Rule Them All concert through its Fund for the Arts.

There is no admission charge, donations are most-graciously accepted. We hope to see you at the extraordinary Opera House for this afternoon of delightful music.

Our Central Kentucky Concert Band will continue its 2011-2012 performance season [Of Myths and Magic] with their “One Ring To Rule Them All” concert which shall take place at the extraordinary Lexington Opera House at 3:00 PM on Sunday, May 6. Reminder – No Rehearsal This Week

Please remember we shan’t have rehearsal this week [April 5]. Rehearsals will resume on Thursday, April 12 as we enter the final phase of preparations for our coming ORTRTA concert. Happy Easter, Happy Passover, Happy Spring Break. Be Well.

Our CKCB music-making family is off to a good start on their preparations for the coming ”ORTRTA” [One Ring To Rule Them All] concert which will be presented at the Lexington Opera House on May 6, 2012 at 3:00 PM. Humpty-Dumpty Sat on a Wall

Humpty-Dumpty Sat on a Wall

The Humpty-Dumpty Sat on a Wall Concert will feature “Magic Overture” [Doss], “Overture to the Magic Flute” [Mozart], “Entrance of the Queen” [Aparicio-Barberin], “March of the Trolls” [Grieg], “Alake” [Wyntin], and “Young Wizards” [Fraser].

Special highlights of the concert will include a musical tribute to the life of Mr. Jack Shepard, Tubist Emeritus and cherished member of the CKCB; the much-beloved “Sorcerer’s Apprentice” [Dukas] under the baton of well-known area educator and musician, Mr. Les Anderson, Assistant Conductor of the CKCB and a rousing rendition of the “Humpty-Dumpty Rag” [Straight] to close the program.

This concert is the second of the “Of Myths and Magic” 2011-2012 performance season. Peter LaRue serves as the Music Director and Conductor of the Central Kentucky Concert Band.

Sunday, February 26 – 3:00 PM at Transylvania University … the Central Kentucky Concert Band continues its 2011-2012 performance season with our “Humpty-Dumpty Sat on a Wall” concert. Humpty-Dumpty Rehearsals Begin

On Thursday, January 5, at 7:30 PM our CKCB music-making family will continue its 2011-2012 performance season “Of Myths and Magic” as we begin rehearsals for the “Humpty-Dumpty Sat on a Wall” concert. Works by Wyntin, Barberin, Doss, Fraser, Straight, Mozart and Grieg will be featured. We look forward to continuing our quest for excellence in adult music-making. See you there.
