You Are Most-Cordially Invited …

22 Jun

You are most-cordially invited to attend two upcoming performances by the Central Kentucky Concert Band – as part of our 2013 Summer Pops Series [aka SPS].

The first concert shall take place at the beautiful UK Arboretum at 7:00 PM on Saturday, June 29 and is sponsored by the Friends of the Arboretum and coordinated by Ms. Marcia Farris. On Sunday, June 30, the CKCB will be performing at the Wallis Home and Arboretum in Paris. The concert will start at 7:00 PM and is sponsored by the Gardens Clubs of Bourbon County and is coordinated by Ms. Judy Ferrell.

The programs will feature works by Bock, Doss, Handel, King, Saucedo, Sousa and many others. Bring a friend, bring a blanket and enjoy fine band music in relaxed, informal settings.

The goal of our Summer Pops Series is to hearken back to the great and storied legacy of Bands in America – presenting good music in informal venues – where the enjoyment of the audience members and ensemble members alike was the primary concern.

The Central Kentucky Concert Band, now in its 37th year, is widely recognized as the premier, adult concert band in the Commonwealth, as well as one of the finest ensembles of its nature in the southeastern United States. Since 1994, Peter LaRue has served as the Music Director and Conductor of the Central Kentucky Concert Band. Mr. Les Anderson is the Assistant Conductor and Dr. Lee Patrick serves as Chair of the Executive Board. The CKCB has benefited historically from the support of the Kentucky Arts Council, LexArts, the Scott County Council of the Arts, Georgetown College, Asbury College, Transylvania University, the Opera House Fund and the many “Friends of the CKCB” from across the Bluegrass.

Thanks and Thanks. Hope to see you there.
